From June 2015 to August 2019, I worked as an IT consultant for the Law Office of Gregory D Green.
Wireless WAN Deployment
In 2015, no company provided sufficient-quality internet services in the managing attorney's neighborhood. I was tasked with finding a way to connect the attorney's home to the office network and the general internet. To complete this task, I ordered two Ubiquiti AirMAX antennas, one for the office and the other for the attorney's home. I was able to aim the antennas to get 50% signal efficiency, as the distance and size of the antennas made it difficult to get much higher while coordinating antenna adjustments with another person over the phone.
Windows XP Migration to Windows 10
In June of 2016, I was able to convince the managing attorney to provide the necessary budget to remove the decade-old Windows XP machines used by the secretaries and replace them with new Windows 10 machines. The documents were all copied from the head secretary's machine and the user profiles rebuilt from scratch on the new device as we lacked any central domain server to handle user profiles.
Private NAS Solution
Also in June of 2016, I was able to deploy a NAS from Western Digital that was accessible over the internet for the attorney to remotely access case documents and any associated media. This drive was additionally used to provide backups of the client files that were previously only stored on the head secretary's laptop.
